Mission Statement

The mission of the Platte County High School Theatre Department is to provide students with opportunities to grow as individuals, artists, leaders, and collaborators by creating meaningful real world theatrical experiences where they can take creative risks, develop confidence and communication skills, strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and learn the value of teamwork, responsibility, and supporting one another both on and off the stage.

What we believe for our students

We believe theatre is a place where students find their voice, build connections, and become part of something bigger than themselves. A successful production depends on every person involved, from the performers on stage to the designers, technicians, and crew members working behind the scenes. We believe every student has a valuable role to play and that the process of creating theatre together is just as important as the final performance. Through collaboration, creativity, and shared experiences, students become part of a community that supports, challenges, and celebrates one another.

Awards & Recognition

The Platte County High School Theatre Department is honored to be recognized for the dedication, creativity, and hard work of our students, staff, and community supporters. While awards are not the reason we create theatre, they are a reflection of the commitment, collaboration, and passion that students bring to every production.
Our program proudly participates in the regional Blue Star Awards through Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, where student achievement in high school musical theatre is recognized across the region. Through this program, PCHS Theatre has received recognition in multiple categories, including being awarded Overall Best Musical (Tier 1) for two consecutive years.
In addition to musical theatre recognition, the program celebrated a historic achievement when the PCHS Theatre Department earned its first MSHSAA One Act Theatre Competition State Championship. This accomplishment represents the dedication of students both on stage and behind the scenes who worked together to create a successful ensemble production.
The department has also been represented on a national level through the Jimmy Awards, with a PCHS student selected to participate in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards and recognized as a Jimmy Scholar through the program’s scholarship opportunities.
Each recognition represents more than an award-it represents the teamwork, growth, and commitment of the students who make PCHS Theatre what it is.
